While in D.C. she worked as a Congressional Liaison between the NFIP and the Congressional staff, both elected and appointed – handling the Mitigation Portfolio. She was detailed from FEMA HQ in October 2013 to New York in the recovery efforts of Super Storm Sandy as the flood insurance lead – assigned to the Joint Field Office for which it was her responsibility to attend public meetings, speak with policyholders, city officials, and members of the local communities with regard to flood insurance and the coverages the flood program provides.
