Muys Snijders, Head of Art Services at Private Client Select (formerly AIG Private Client Group) in New York, brings over 25 years of international experience in the art world. She manages all aspects of risk management for the Fine Art & Collectibles insurance portfolio, providing collection care, loss prevention services and expert advice on high-value claims. Before joining AIG, Muys’ background includes launching her own art consultancy firm, serving as the Managing Director of Christie’s Americas, and holding key positions in Client Advisory, Estates, Appraisals & Valuations which position her well to advise clients on the entire spectrum of their art collections. With deep expertise in Post War, Contemporary, and Emerging art having led these divisions for Bonhams and Christie’s as Head of Department, Global Director of Client Strategy and Private sales respectively.
Her extensive education includes a Master’s in Art History & Classical Archaeology from Leiden University in the Netherlands, and additional degrees in Arts Management and Art Market Appraisal from the United Kingdom. Muys completed the Executive Leadership Program for China at Harvard Business School, Tsinghua University, and CEIBS in China. Furthermore, she has certifications in Alternative Investments and is a Chartered Private Risk and Insurance Advisory (CPRIA), providing specialized solutions for complex insurance and risk challenges.
Actively engaged in the art community, Muys is associated with prestigious organizations such as the Aspen Art Museum, Guggenheim Acquisition Committee and Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Miami. She is also a member of various associations including the Appraisers Association of America, Private Risk Management Association, New York City Association of Insurance Women and Professional Advisors to the International Art Market. Her contributions to the art market extend beyond her professional responsibilities, demonstrating her commitment to the industry’s growth and development supporting organizations like the Professional Organization of Women in the Arts, Art Mamas Alliance, Pen & Brush and ArtTable. Muys serves on the board of the Dutch People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and is also on the honorary committee of the Dutch Centre in London.
Recognized as a visionary leader, Muys has been featured in the Top 50 Women Leaders of New York and The 10 Most Influential Women Changing the Face of Business. She is known for her lectures and panel discussions on art market related topics and has worked in London, Amsterdam as well as in New York.
