With 9 years excess & surplus experience, Brad Turner has spent his insurance career exclusively with Burns & Wilcox, starting as a personal lines underwriter, specializing in coastal property, including wind and flood. Brad currently serves as Associate Vice President, National Product Manager, Flood in Morehead City, North Carolina. Brad grew up on the Southern Outer Banks of North Carolina, near Morehead City, where he returned as an adult and currently resides. Brad’s passion surrounding CAT exposure is directly tied to his life-long, personal experience with tropical events, including intimate experiences of the devastation and displacement that follows.

Within his role at Burns & Wilcox, he has been instrumental in the creation, management, and facilitation of their National Flood Practice Group, delivering private flood solutions to brokers, agents, and consumers in all 50 states. Brad is a highly respected flood expert within the London market and U.S. private flood space, where he is known for his granular knowledge of flood underwriting, form language, flood risk modeling, contract, aggregate and risk management, and stellar underwriting results over his career.

Brad currently manages a flood specialty underwriting group within Burns, which has grown exponentially under his supervision and guidance, with binding authority from over 20 London syndicates, spanning a multitude of flood facilities and risk appetites. Additionally, Brad has been recognized for his flood risk analysis and underwriting acumen in coastal areas spanning the United States. Brad is a certified educator for flood within the United States and holds continuing education courses annually through Kaufman Institute online, as well as local classrooms across the country. In addition to his insurance background, Brad has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience, where he has learned to apply a consultative approach to better align solutions with the needs of clients and consumers.

Brad was recently awarded the 2023 E&S Underwriting Rising Star of the Year by The Insurer, recognizing emerging leaders in the excess and surplus space. He was also recognized as a 2023 Top Specialist Broker by Insurance Business America (IBA) given to “those who possess unique insights and highly developed skill sets tailored to their particular specialty”. Under his leadership, the Burns & Wilcox Flood Practice was also nominated as a 2023 short-list nominee for “Specialty Underwriting Team of the Year” by Inside P&C.

Brad holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Information Systems and Technical Management from DeVry University in Illinois.
